Treatments [ Biologic Therapy ](/all-treatments-services/biologic-therapy)Biologic therapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses substances made from living organisms or substances created in a lab that mimic natural immune components to help the body fight cancer. These therapies may strengthen the immune system, slow the growth of cancer cells, or block signals that help tumors develop. Biologic therapy includes treatments such as monoclonal antibodies, growth factors, cytokines, and vaccines. Immunotherapy and targeted therapy are considered types of biologic therapy and may be used alone or in combination with one another or with other cancer treatments, depending on each patient’s diagnosis and care plan.Biologic therapies are often given through an infusion or injection in an outpatient setting. Your care team will determine the most appropriate type of biologic therapy for your condition and will monitor your response closely, helping manage any side effects and adjusting treatment as needed.

Treatments [ Bispecific T-Cell Engager Therapy (BiTE Therapy) ](/all-treatments-services/bispecific-t-cell-engager-therapy-bite-therapy)Bispecific T-cell engager therapy, also called BiTE therapy, is an innovative form of immunotherapy that helps the body identify and destroy cancer cells. BiTE therapies work by bringing a patient’s T-cells into direct contact with cancer cells so the immune system can attack them more effectively. This treatment is most often used for certain blood cancers such as lymphoma and leukemia, particularly when the disease is aggressive or has not responded to standard therapies. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is proud to be the first provider of BiTE therapy in Tarrant County. Our medical oncology team was the first in the county to treat a patient with BiTE therapy for aggressive lymphoma, representing one of the newest and most promising treatment options available for patients with advanced blood cancers. Our leadership in bringing forward advanced therapies reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation, expertise, and exceptional patient care.BiTE therapy is delivered through an infusion with close monitoring by oncology-trained nurses and physicians. Your care team will determine the treatment schedule and support you through each step, managing side effects and assessing your response to ensure the therapy remains safe and effective.

Services [ Cancer Screenings ](/all-treatments-services/cancer-screenings) Offered at 3 Locations

Cancer screenings are important tools for detecting cancer early, often before symptoms develop. Early detection can lead to more effective treatment options and improved long-term outcomes. Depending on your age, personal history, and risk factors, your care team may recommend screenings such as blood tests or imaging studies to monitor your health and identify concerns as early as possible. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders offers accessible screening opportunities throughout the year to support early detection and preventive care.

Treatments [ CAR-T Therapy ](/all-treatments-services/car-t-therapy-0)Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell therapy, also called CAR-T therapy, is an advanced cellular therapy which harnesses the body's immune system to fight cancer. CAR-T therapy modifies a patient's T-cells to target and destroy cancer cells, offering a cutting-edge approach to personalized cancer care. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is proud to be one of the first community physician practices in Texas to deliver a CAR-T therapy outside a hospital or academic center. As one of the first independent practices to deliver this innovative therapy outside of a hospital in Texas, The Center's program marks a milestone in expanding patient access to cutting-edge care in cancer centers close to where patients live. Our medical oncology team was the first in Tarrant County to treat a patient with CAR-T therapy for aggressive lymphoma. The Center's CAR-T care delivery model allows for seamless monitoring and care coordination between the Center's physician-based clinic and local hospitals, ensuring patient safety and improving treatment outcomes.

Treatments [ Chemotherapy ](/all-treatments-services/chemotherapy) Offered at 18 Locations

Chemotherapy is a systemic therapy that uses medications to kill fast-growing cancer cells or stop them from dividing. Depending on the diagnosis, chemotherapy may be used alone or alongside other treatments, including surgery, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy. Because it circulates throughout the body, chemotherapy can help treat cancer cells that have spread beyond the original tumor site. Many chemotherapy drugs are available, and each works differently. Side effects can occur, ranging from mild to more serious, and your care team will carefully monitor your response and adjust treatment as needed.Chemotherapy is administered under the direction of medical oncologists; physicians specially trained in diagnosing and treating cancer. After medical school, these specialists complete at least three years of residency and often an additional three-year fellowship in oncology. At The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, our physicians pair advanced medical expertise with a strong commitment to whole-person care, providing supportive services and resources to help patients and their families through every step of treatment.

Services [ Clinical Trials & Research ](/all-treatments-services/clinical-trials-research) Offered at 3 Locations

By participating in a clinical trial, patients may receive promising therapies earlier while helping researchers learn more about how to prevent, detect, and treat cancer. Providing clinical trial opportunities reflects a commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care, supported by a team trained to follow rigorous safety and monitoring standards. Clinical trials allow patients to explore new treatment options close to home, with the support of a dedicated oncology and research team guiding them every step of the way.

Services [ Fertility Preservation Counseling ](/all-treatments-services/fertility-preservation-counseling)Some cancer treatments can affect fertility, making it more difficult to become pregnant or have biological children in the future. Fertility preservation counseling helps patients understand how their diagnosis and treatment plan may impact reproductive health and explores available options for protecting fertility before treatment begins. During this consultation, patients meet with specialists who review medical history, discuss the timing of cancer therapy, explain fertility preservation methods, and coordinate referrals to reproductive experts when needed. The goal is to ensure patients have the information and support they need to make informed decisions about their future family-planning goals.Fertility preservation may be appropriate for individuals of any gender and at any age. Options may include egg or embryo freezing, sperm banking, ovarian tissue preservation, or treatments that help safeguard reproductive function during cancer therapy. Your oncology team will help determine the safest timing for these procedures and work with fertility specialists to minimize delays in cancer treatment.

Services [ Genetic Counseling & Testing ](/all-treatments-services/genetic-counseling-testing)Genetic counseling and testing help identify whether a person has an inherited risk for certain types of cancer. During a genetic counseling visit, a certified genetic counselor reviews your personal and family history of cancer, discusses whether the pattern suggests a hereditary condition, and determines whether genetic testing may be helpful. While most cancers are not inherited, about 10 percent are linked to genetic mutations that can be passed down in families. Understanding your risk can help guide screening, prevention, and treatment decisions for you and your loved ones, and in some cases, the results of genetic testing can also influence which cancer treatments may be most effective. Genetic testing is usually done with a simple blood draw or saliva sample. If a hereditary cancer risk is identified, genetic counselors work closely with your medical team to create a personalized plan that may include earlier or more frequent screenings, risk-reducing strategies, or other preventive care. Genetic counseling can also help inform family members who may share the same inherited risk.At The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, our certified genetic counselors work closely with patients and families to understand hereditary cancer risk and guide next steps. They partner with CCBD oncologists, surgeons, and primary care providers to create personalized screening and prevention plans. Many patients are referred by their doctor, but individuals with questions about inherited cancer risk are encouraged to speak with their care team about scheduling a genetic counseling appointment.
