Fertility preservation counseling helps patients understand how their diagnosis and treatment plan may impact reproductive health and explores available options for protecting fertility before treatment begins. During this consultation, patients meet with specialists who review medical history, discuss the timing of cancer therapy, explain fertility preservation methods, and coordinate referrals to reproductive experts when needed. The goal is to ensure patients have the information and support they need to make informed decisions about their future family-planning goals. Fertility preservation may be appropriate for individuals of any gender and at any age. Options may include egg or embryo freezing, sperm banking, ovarian tissue preservation, or treatments that help safeguard reproductive function during cancer therapy.
