## About This Treatment

Lymph node dissection is a surgical procedure used to remove lymph nodes, so they can be examined for cancer or to treat cancer that has spread to the lymphatic system. This procedure helps determine the stage of the disease, guides treatment planning, and may reduce the risk of cancer returning in nearby areas. Lymph node dissection may be performed at the same time as tumor removal or as a separate procedure, depending on the location of the cancer and each patient’s overall care plan.

Your surgical and oncology teams will evaluate which lymph nodes should be removed and will work together to ensure a safe procedure, thorough evaluation, and coordinated follow-up care based on your results.
