Pathologists are physicians who examine blood, tissue, and other samples to identify abnormalities, determine whether cancer is present, and understand how aggressive it may be. Laboratory testing provides important information about blood counts, organ function, tumor markers, and genetic changes within cancer cells. These results help your care team confirm a diagnosis, plan treatment, monitor progress, and adjust therapies as needed. Most laboratory tests are completed quickly using advanced technology, and results are shared directly with your oncology team.
