As a radiation oncologist, Dr. Cavey offers his patients the most up-to-date and aggressive options for fighting cancer. Every cancer patient has a unique set of circumstances. Dr. Cavey works with the patient’s medical oncologist, surgeon, and primary care physician to provide each individual an opportunity for a cure and the highest quality of life.

Dr. Cavey holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Cavey completed his internship at Austin Medical Education Programs at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas, and he completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Dr. Cavey has been extensively involved in clinical radiation oncology research, particularly in breast and prostate cancer. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at numerous national and international meetings. He was honored for his research efforts with an award from the Research and Education Foundation of the Radiological Society of North America.

Dr. Cavey is trained in the use of Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy, and the administration of radiopharmaceuticals. He also has extensive experience in brachytherapy, including delivery of MammoSite® partial breast irradiation and treatment of gynecologic malignancies.

He is also highly skilled in the use of CyberKnife® Radiosurgery, a complex type of cancer treatment using precise radiation in place of surgery. This technology can be effective for treating tumors previously considered inoperable.

Dr. Cavey has been honored as a Top Doctor by Fort Worth, Texas magazine. He and his wife live in Southlake, with their daughter and son.
