Use of Artificial Intelligence in Patient Care
In compliance with Texas law, The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders discloses the following regarding our use of artificial intelligence in patient care.
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders currently uses Knowtex, an AI-powered medical scribing tool, to assist with clinical documentation. Knowtex listens to patient-provider conversations during visits and generates draft clinical notes to support accurate and efficient documentation of patient care.
All AI-generated documentation is reviewed and approved by the treating physician or provider before it becomes part of the patient's medical record. Our providers retain full responsibility for all clinical decisions and documentation.
What information Knowtex processes:
Knowtex processes audio recordings of patient-provider conversations for the purpose of generating clinical notes. This information is treated as protected health information under HIPAA. A Business Associate Agreement is in place with Knowtex governing the handling and protection of this data.
Questions or concerns:
If you have questions about our use of AI in your care or would like to discuss this with your provider, please contact us at 817-759-7000 or speak with your care team at your next visit.
