GOALS: Comfort, Relaxation, and Symptom Management.
Acupuncture is one of the integral healing practices within Chinese medicine. Acupuncture originated over three thousand years ago. It is a holistic health care modality used extensively in Asian countries and is now popular in the West.
Acupuncture is the insertion of sterilized, ultra-fine surgical steel needles into the body at specific points shown to benefit certain body systems. The points are mapped out on the body and connected by energetic channels. By stimulating and activating the body’s self-healing systems, acupuncture strengthens, harmonizes and balances energy and works with the body to address many health problems. It supports the immune system, controls pain, improves circulation and allows the body to heal itself more quickly and more completely.
The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture’s effectiveness for over 40 different conditions. Included in these are nausea, different pain conditions, the ability to decrease stress, anxiety, and improve sleep. An acupuncture treatment is, typically, very relaxing and enjoyable.
Acupuncture at The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is performed by Texas licensed, well-trained Acupuncturists. The service is provided by free to patients by Careity Foundation.
